To get a job, you need to have a job?

I know that in the Current Climate, jobs are at their all time low, with masses headed for the Jobcentre and jobs having numbers of applicants reaching four figures. In times of desperation, someone must want to hire these jobless workers.

But this article, which I read on Yahoo News via digg.com shocked me to the core. Apparantly companies who are recruiting to fill their job positions want people who already have a job, which beggars belief as to what happens to the jobless population. Companies seem to rule out hiring a jobless applicant, with some actually writing on their job postings that “unemployed candidates will not be considered"or “must be currently employed,"which is probably the last thing a depressed individual on the dole wants to hear. It’s rather sad, particularly if someone was made redundant and now doors are shut to them precisely because they don’t have a job. The Current Climate has turned our lives into a misery, as well as having a job to apply for a job, every time a programme switches to an ad break there’s one advert or even two in which a company wants you to sell your house, your jewelry or your mobile phone to them for peanuts. It seems never ending, people can’t even make ends meet, they’ve just been made jobless so they are selling their last possessions and assets for some cash.

Despite the article being North American, this could easily be happening over here. I have a nephew who’s trying to apply for a job while in Uni, and he’s applied for over 30 and had no reply, or a rejection, could it be due to the fact that he doesn’t have a job?
