Radio 6

As the BBC announces that it is axing Radio 6, I’m heartened to see that many a celebrity has jumped onto this bandwagon in an attempt to save it. What is the BBC thinking of? A tiny amount of our licence fee goes towards radio, and frankly I would gladly pay all of it just to keep Jarvis Cocker and Guy Garvey in the DJing booth/their bedrooms or wherever they choose to broadcast from.
As a London dweller I’m also a frequent listener to Robert Elms on Radio London, a show full of fascinating tips and information about this great capital city that I call home. Frequently I can jump in with an answer to a question ruminated upon in the pub, thanks to Robert’s Queries.
I’m not a huge fan of television. Yes, occasionally a series from the BBC comes along to remind us what a great institution it can be - David Attenborough programmes for example, but I am seriously over people wandering around the English countryside in bonnets or wet shirts. Radio is where it’s at if you want to keep up to date with world events. Or if you want something very avant garde then you should be checking out something like Resonance FM. There are a plethora of good hosts broadcasting their shows and introducing the listening public to the entirely new music of unsigned bands or old classics that we may have forgotten, but which deserve to be given air time. The scope on our radio waves is huge and long may it continue to be so.
So please Aunty Beeb, don’t pull the plug on Radio 6, you won’t save much money, but we will lose out on plenty of excellent broadcasting and the expansion of our world. We are not all mainstream, and we don’t want to live in a world of mediocrity. So can we have our radio station back please?
I need some input from all of you on this one, I was talking to my girlfriend the other night and she asked me to visit this site on vaser lipo London. I am under the impression she is actually thinking about getting this done. How do I go about approaching the subject of saying that she shouldn’t really go through with it and she should try a more natural way of taking off weight first…
